From the recording With Friends Like These...
I wrote this music at the passing of a friend, too young to die. The music
was also inspired by the loss of my own wonderful mother. The first time
I heard this Hopi poem was when it was read at my dear grandmother
Nonny’s memorial. Since then it has always been a part of our family
memorials. The words ring profoundly true for me.
